Which Personal Trainer Certification Is The Best

As a Personal Trainer with over 15 years of experience.  I’m familiar with which personal trainer certification is the best and some tips to be successful. The first question you should ask yourself is why you want to become a PT.

Is it because you want to make good money, or is it because you are passionate about fitness and helping people?

For me, it was the latter of the two, I enjoy helping people, and I’m very passionate about Fitness. If this is the reason you want to become a trainer, then the money part will come much easier. This is just like any career that you choose, and you are passionate about. Becoming a PT will be much easier if you are passionate about fitness and helping people.

This is one of the most satisfying careers you can choose, in my opinion. The biggest reason, I think, is that you can change someone’s life. I have personally received calls or texts being thanked for getting someone into fitness because now they can’t stop working out and eating healthy.

A few months ago, I received a call from someone going out and partying every night. He had put on some weight over the years, and he was feeling kind of depressed.

He said, “Thank you for changing my life; I’ve never felt so good.”

This particular person is absolutely obsessed now with working out and eating healthy.

He does not drink anymore and has more natural energy than ever. I’m telling you this because if you decide to become a trainer, you may see results like this is why you should choose a trainer!

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PERSONAL TRAINERS

These are the most well-known trainers, but there are many other options you may want to consider. I have worked on a Cruise Ship before, and some have Personal Trainers.

With so many personal training certifications out there, the sky is the limit to what journey you take.

This could be a great job because you can travel the world as well. You could also become a trainer at a Resort or vacation spot. Some of the most well-known tropical locations have trainers on-site. Bora Bora is calling you right now to come to be a trainer!

  • The Standard Trainer This is what I chose to become and the most popular option. Whenever you go to a gym, these are the trainers you will see helping people with their fitness goals.
  • Rehabilitation Trainer When someone is injured or has had surgery, they will start recovery in a medical or rehabilitation center. This is where you would work if you decided on this type of trainer.
  • Athletic Performance Trainer They can, on average, earn more money than a standard trainer since you would be dealing with semi Professional or Professional athletes. You can also train at schools or athletic facilities as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Specialized Niche Trainer You may choose this if you want to train in a specific fitness area, like training someone in Martial Arts or Olympic powerlifting.

THE MOST RECOGNIZED PERSONAL TRAINER CERTIFICATION

Some gyms will only accept a certain personal trainer certification and hire you if you have one. So make sure you look into which ones gyms require if there is a certain company you want to work for.

A personal trainer certification may be a good option if you’re looking to get fit. You may never even work as a PT, but at least you have all the knowledge to keep yourself in great shape.

The National Academy Of Sports Medicine (NASM) certification is the most common personal trainer certification. Many employers recognize this certification, which can help you become a successful PT.

To become certified as a personal trainer through the NASM, you’ll need to pass an exam. The exam consists of 120 questions on anatomy, physiology, and nutrition.

Once you have your certification, you can start helping people achieve their fitness goals. A PT can help you set realistic goals, create a workout plan, and provide motivation and support. If you’re looking to get fit, a PT can be a great resource.

You can pick whatever personal trainer certification you want if you are doing your own business. There are tons of certifications, so it can be hard to choose. I have chosen five that any company will hire you if you have.

When looking, a good rule of thumb is to check if the National Commission accredits the certification for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The NCCA is the standard these certifications must undergo and be evaluated to keep their accreditation.

  • NASM Is the one I have, and it stands for National Academy Of Sports Medicine. A 30-year-old company is best known for its (CPT) Certified Personal Trainer program. NASM has certified over 200,000 people, more than any other certification. The program costs around $700, and you must recertify every two years.
  • ACE, which stands for American Council Of Exercise, was started in 1985 and has over 50,000 people certified. You can be certified as a Health Coach, Group Fitness Instructor, or Advanced Fitness and Health Specialist through ACE. The price ranges from $500-$800, depending on what study package you choose. They require you to recertify every two years.
  • NSCA, also known as National Strength And Conditioning Association, was founded in 1978. There are around 40,000 people actively certified with NSCA. The program costs around $400 and requires you to recertify every two years, but the cost is only $50 when you recertify.
  • ACSM is the American College Of Sports Medicine and was established in 1954. They have a good variety of certifications. You could be a Health Fitness Specialist or a Group Exercise Instructor. These are the more popular choices. The ACSM will cost you around $800, including the study materials, 3-day live workshops, exam fee, and practice exam fee.
  • ISSA, or the International Sports Sciences Association, was started in 1988. This is the only certification on my list that is not accredited by the (NCCA). However, it is recognized by the Distance Education And Training Council (DETC). The DETC and NCCA are both widely accepted and recognized. You can get all the study materials and test fees for $500.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BECOME A TRAINER

Before you purchase all your study materials and sign up for an exam, you want to ensure a few things. In addition to certification, most gyms will require a few things.

If you decide to work for yourself, then age isn’t a big factor, but they will require you to be at least 18 years old for most gyms. Most likely, they will all require you are certified or trained in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED).

These both do not take long. You can do this in One day for around $30 and be done in less than 2 hours. You will most likely be required to re-certify every 1 to 2 years. I just went on the Red Cross Website and found somewhere local with the course and signed up.

A few personal trainer certification programs like ISSA, ACSM, and NSCA will require that you have a high school diploma or GED. If you have neither, you can search online, and you will be able to find some certifications that don’t require this.

These are the basic requirements to become a trainer, but there are also some to recertify.

Insurance is another important thing you should get. Gyms will require you have this, but if you are doing your own thing, you should still have it. This will cover you for general liability, sexual misconduct liability, and any damages to the rented area you are working out of.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS SHOULD YOU HAVE TO BECOME A PERSONAL TRAINER

If you’re looking to become a personal trainer, there are a few key qualifications you should possess. First and foremost, good customer service skills are a must. You’ll be working directly with clients, so you need to be able to build positive relationships and ensure they’re getting the most out of their training sessions.

Additionally, the ability to teach people how to do something is essential. As a personal trainer, you’ll be designing fitness programs and teaching clients how to execute them properly. Knowledge of teaching and training methods is also key. Finally, the ability to work independently is important.

Personal trainers often work remotely or in isolation, so the ability to manage your own time and schedule is essential. Working independently is key, as you will often be responsible for your own scheduling and client relationships.

If you have these qualifications, then you are ready to narrow down the best personal trainer certification programs for you!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME CERTIFIED

Many programs offer online certification. This is the way I did it. This way, you can go at your own pace and get certified rather quickly if you are determined. Another option is to find a facility that makes a hands-on approach. They usually have scheduled days of the week you have to be there.

I would recommend this if you start from scratch and personally do not know much about working out and how the body works. I chose online because I had been involved in the fitness industry for many years and already had a good grasp of everything.

NASM, for example, requires a minimum of 10 weeks, and no sooner can you get the certification.

So if you think about it, you can get one of the highest recognized certifications in 2.5 months. Something to keep in mind is that most companies give you a deadline before you can take the test. With NASM, it was 180 days from when you purchased the package.

If you need more time, you can reschedule for another date for $200. This is just an example of how long it is for NASM. There are so many certifications, and a lot is different, so you will want to look that up first to make sure.

DO YOU HAVE TO BE IN GREAT SHAPE TO BE A PERSONAL TRAINER

If you’re thinking about becoming a personal trainer, you may wonder if you have to be in great shape. The answer is not necessarily. However, being in great shape will definitely help you attract clients and show that you’re passionate about fitness.

You’ll need to be able to demonstrate the exercises you recommend to your clients.

There is no specific fitness test to become a personal trainer, but it’s important to be able to demonstrate the exercises you recommend. This means being able to perform them correctly and safely, which requires a certain level of fitness.

That said, there are plenty of ways to get in shape if you’re not already there. Start by eating healthy and exercising regularly. Joining a gym is a great way to get started, or try some at-home workouts if you’re short on time. This may be something you do while studying for the exam, so when you finish and pass the test you are already in shape!

One saying stuck in my head many years ago is, never trust a skinny cook.  This is why it’s extremely important to be in good shape if you want to get clients.

If you’re dedicated to becoming a personal trainer, there’s no reason why you can’t reach the level of fitness you need. Just make sure to set realistic goals and take them one step at a time. And most importantly, have fun with it!

THE BEST BENEFITS OF BEING A PERSONAL TRAINER

If you’re looking for a career that is both rewarding and offers great flexibility, becoming a personal trainer may be a perfect choice. Here are four of the best benefits of becoming a personal trainer:

1. Flexible Working Hours

One of the best things about being a personal trainer is the flexible working hours. Whether you want to work full-time or part-time, you can easily tailor your schedule to fit your needs. This makes it a great job for anyone who wants to balance their career with other commitments.

2. Become Your Own Boss

Another great thing about being a personal trainer is becoming your own boss. This gives you control over your income and career path, which can be incredibly rewarding. It also allows you to set your own rates and choose the clients you work with.

3. Making a Difference in People’s Lives

Being a personal trainer is not just a job; it’s also a way of making a real difference in people’s lives. When you help someone achieve their fitness goals, you give them the confidence and motivation they need to succeed. This can be incredibly rewarding and satisfying.

4. True Job Satisfaction

Finally, one of the best things about being a personal trainer is the true job satisfaction it offers. When you see the progress your clients are making and know that you’re helping them improve their lives, it’s hard not to be satisfied with your job.

WHICH TYPE OF PERSONAL TRAINER MAKES THE MOST MONEY

There are a few different types of personal trainers who make the most money. The first type is a health and wellness coach. These personal trainers help clients live healthier lifestyles by changing their diet and exercise habits. They may also offer lifestyle coaching, which can help their clients to manage stress and make positive changes in their lives. Health and wellness coaches typically charge around $75 an hour.

The second type of personal trainer who makes the most money is a fitness instructor. These personal trainers design workout programs for their clients and teach them how to use equipment safely. They may also provide nutritional advice and guidance on how to reach fitness goals. Fitness instructors typically charge around $50 an hour.

The third type of personal trainer who makes the most money is a sports coach. These trainers work with athletes to improve their performance in specific sports or activities. They may also help injured athletes to return to competition. Sports coaches typically charge around $75 an hour.

Take into consideration your niche when it comes to a personal trainer certification. Personal trainers can specialize in working with certain populations, such as seniors, pregnant women, or people with chronic conditions. They can also specialize in certain training areas, such as strength training, Pilates, or weight loss.

So which type of personal trainer makes the most money? Generally speaking, CPTs make the most money. They have the most experience and credentials, and they can specialize in any population or area of training. However, health and wellness coaches can also make a good living if they have the right skills and experience. And fitness professionals can also make good money if they have a strong background in fitness and exercise science.

WHO HAS THE HIGHEST-PAYING PERSONAL TRAINING BUSINESS

The highest-paid personal trainer in the world is reportedly Shaun T, who earned $3 million in 2016. T is the creator of the Insanity workout program and has a massive following on social media. Other top earners in the personal training industry include Jillian Michaels ($2 million), Tony Horton ($1.5 million), and Chalene Johnson ($1 million).

So what makes these trainers so successful? In addition to their innovative workouts, they are masters of marketing themselves and building strong personal brands. They are also great at motivating their clients to stick with their programs and achieve results.

Another high paid personal trainer is reportedly David Barton. Barton charges $700 for a single session, but his clients include celebrities and businesspeople looking to improve their physique and overall health. Barton has been in the fitness industry for over 25 years and has appeared on numerous TV shows and magazines.

However, be sure to do your research before choosing one, as not all trainers are created equal. Ask around for recommendations, read reviews online, and consult with your doctor to make sure it’s safe for you to exercise. Then choose the trainer that best suits your needs and start seeing results!

WHICH ONE DO I RECOMMEND YOU CHOOSE

If I had to recommend one for you, It would be a tough choice to recommend just one personal trainer certification.

I personally have the NASM, but I also think ACE is a great choice. It definitely depends on what area of training you want to get into, but if you are looking to be a basic personal trainer like you see in gyms, I would recommend the NASM or ACE.

A great way to start is working with a gym because they provide good ongoing training and sometimes help find clients.

Once you get the hang of it and know what you are doing, you can start your own business. With your own business, sometimes you can pay gyms to use their facilities. The best option, in my opinion, and is what I do, would be to train in the building you live in if it has a decent gym. That way, you are keeping 100% of your profits!

I have written a few articles that may help with your training. These will be some of the biggest topics you will face with clients, so hopefully, they help!
