High Quality Fish Oils – Which Ones You Should Buy And Why

If you have never taken any form of fish oil, I hope I can change your mind with this article. These are some very High-Quality Fish Oils.

I will also show you THE FISH OIL that I only use now.

When I first started purchasing fish oils years ago, I had no idea what I was buying and didn’t think there was a difference. I was very much influenced by the marketing or if there was a great sale going on.

If the label said high quality or Best Rated Fish Oils, I would believe it and purchase them. Years later, looking back, I realized I was wasting my money.  I bought cheaper fish oils that hardly contained any of the important Omega 3’s.

Now I make sure I’m looking at the amount of Eicosapentaenoic Acid and Docosahexaenoic Acid.

A much easier way to remember these names is EPA and DHA. You will always see these two on the nutrition label.

Once I realized the importance of these two, the next step was finding high-quality fish oils with a high amount of these two at a low price. I will give you my honest opinion on comparing many different fish oils based on quality and price, along with why you should be taking them.

The supplement industry can be very tricky if you don’t know what to look for.

Fish oil supplements are important for health. They are a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids essential for heart health, brain function, and fertility. Fish oil supplements can also help to reduce inflammation and improve joint health. In addition, fish oil supplements are a great source of vitamin D, which is essential for bone health. Fish oil supplements are an easy and convenient way to get all the omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D you need for good health.

WHAT ARE FISH OILS AND OMEGA 3’S?

The process of making fish oils is also important because that can determine the quality.

First, the fish enters the processing plant and is cut into pieces. These cut pieces are then cooked with steam before being pressed. The fish is then pressed to separate the liquid from the fat-free solid, oil, and water.

The fat-free solid is used in animal feed, while the liquid is processed more to separate the water from oil. The oil that has been separated is processed some more to remove any impurities.

The last step is adding some anti-oxidants and then putting the oil into storage containers.

This information was helpful to me because I realized that I could determine the quality of the fish oil by understanding this process.

The quality would depend on the type of fish companies are using during this process and how pure.

You can contact the company directly to find out the purity of the fish oil if you want.

When you contact them, ask for a 3rd party documentation of tests they have done. Any good company with a good reputation should be happy to provide this information, and if not, then move on to another company that will.

Omega 3’s are at least 15 different fat molecules, including EPA, DHA, and ALA.

They are fatty acids that you find in fish oils.

Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is found in flax seeds, leafy vegetables, and nuts like walnuts. The body uses ALA for energy. The body cannot make Omega 3’s and get them from a food or supplement form.

OMEGA 3’S

Omega 3s are a type of fatty acid that is found in fish, nuts, and seeds. Unlike other types of fat, Omega 3s are considered “good” fats because they provide several health benefits. For example, Omega 3s can help to lower cholesterol levels, reduce inflammation, and improve brain health. Additionally, Omega 3s are essential for pregnant women and young children, as they help to support brain development.

While Omega 3s offer several benefits, it is important to note that they should be consumed in moderation. Too much Omega 3 can lead to undesirable side effects such as nausea and bleeding. As always, it is best to speak with a medical professional before making any changes to your diet.

THE BENEFITS OF FISH OIL SUPPLEMENTS

There are many benefits of fish oils, and one of the big ones is a healthy heart. Heart attacks and strokes are the worlds leading causes of death.

When you consume enough of the EPA and DHA, they are mixed in with cell membranes such as heart cells.

The American Heart Association has recommended people eat Omega-3 rich fatty acids at least 2 times a week.

Doctors believe that Omega-3’s reduce the risk of heart disease. Researchers have found that when you are consuming fish oil, improves blood flow. This is extremely important for the heart.

One thing I recently found out is they are great for your eyes.

DHA plays a major role in the retina of your eye.

When you don’t get enough DHA, you could have vision problems. There are also studies showing DHA reduces the risk of Macular degeneration.

.

Macular degeneration is one of the leading causes of blindness and permanent eye damage. DHA is 40% of the polyunsaturated fatty acids in the brain, so it’s also essential for the brain.

If you are having problems with inflammation, you may want to give Omega 3’s a try. They can reduce the production of substances and molecules that are linked to inflammation.

You can find many studies online that are very consistent with lower inflammation based on higher use of Omega 3’s.

DHA is also essential for your skin. They are responsible for keeping your cell membranes healthy, which make up a large part of your skin. I often hear how I have very soft skin, and this is still after lifting weights with no gloves on.

I know this has to do a large part because of my consistency with good fish oil.

The big thing that got me into fish oils and caught my attention was how they could increase muscle gains.

They can slow down muscle Proteolysis, which is the breaking down of muscle proteins. Proteolysis is something bodybuilders try and avoid. These fish oils don’t actually build muscle but set your body up for muscle growth.

You will still need to train, eat healthily and get proper sleep.

THE FISH OIL SUPPLEMENTS I USE AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND

You only need to take two capsules, and you are getting 750mg of EPA and DHA.

This is a great deal, with 60 of these servings for around 30 dollars. The owner of this supplement line is one of the only people I will buy from based on his quality of products with no fillers and at a great price.

THE BIG PROBLEM IN THE FISH OIL SUPPLEMENT INDUSTRY

A company called ConsumerLab did a test on different fish oils, and the test had some interesting results. They found that the EPA and DHA in the fish oils can carry from 8-80% in fish oil content.

This all depends on other ingredients in the supplement and how the oil is processed. In a report done in 2012 by ConsumerLab, they found that 4 of the 35 fish oil supplements actually contained less EPA and DHA than the products had claimed on their label.

There were only 3 of the 35 that contained more.

If you are still unsure who to trust or believe, go with one of the bigger companies with a great reputation that has been around for a while.

There are still some excellent companies at affordable prices.

If you think about it, a company that has been around for 20 years and has a top-rated fish oil must be quality. I say this because, over that time, many customers must have inquired about the quality.

.

WHO SHOULD BE TAKING FISH OIL SUPPLEMENTS AND HOW MUCH

I think this is one of the most underrated supplements. I hardly see any friends, family, or clients using Fish Oils.

One of the reasons might be because they are afraid of the taste.

Another reason I think, is that most people don’t know there are many health benefits. This is a supplement everyone and anyone should be taking at all ages.

Many people pay too much attention to the total dosage of fish oil. That’s not the important part, though. You want to pay attention to the most important parts of the omega 3s.

The real benefits of fish oil are found in the EPA and DHA.

The most common type of fish is cold-water oily fish like Salmon, Herring, Mackerel, Anchovies, and Sardines.

These are more common because of the high source of EPA and DHA. These fish have around 7 times more Omegas 3 and 6 oils than other oily fish like Tuna.

The highest non-fish foods are Flaxseeds, Chia Seeds, and Hemp Seeds.

These three have a much higher amount of Omega 3’s than any other food.

I recommend a minimum of 2 grams, and on the higher end, 4 grams of DHA and EPA combined each day.

This way, you are maximizing the muscle metabolic benefits of the two, which isn’t even close to what I used to get before I understood the importance.

I recently looked on the back of a fish oil supplement I used to buy, and there was barely any DHA or EPA.

.

The amount of EPA and DHA per serving of fish oil supplements is important. EPA and DHA are two of the main omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and offer various health benefits. For adults, the American Heart Association also recommends consuming at least two grams per day of combined EPA and DHA.

This can be obtained through a fish oil supplement or eating fatty fish twice weekly. When choosing a fish oil supplement, check the label to see how much EPA and DHA are contained in each serving. This will help you get the right amount of these essential nutrients.

I DON’T LIKE FISH AND STILL TAKE THIS FISH OIL SUPPLEMENT

You may be like me and do not like the taste of fish. I still recommend taking these fish oils because I never taste them after many years.

Some people complain of fishy burps, but that can also depend on whose product you are buying. Even if you get some after this article and have a mild taste of fish if you burp, the positives outweigh the negatives.

There are also other ways to take Omega 3 supplements, like gummies or drink them in a liquid form.

Omega 3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fat that is essential for human health. Omega 3 fatty acids are found in fish, such as salmon, mackerel, and herring, as well as in flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts. Omega 3 fatty acids are important for several reasons.

They help to reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol levels, and protect against heart disease and stroke. Omega three fatty acids are also essential for brain health. They help to improve cognitive function and reduce the risk of dementia. Omega 3’s are important because they provide many health benefits.

I hope this has given you a good idea of why you should take a good fish oil supplement if you haven’t already been.

There is no excuse because they are relatively cheap and you don’t have to prepare anything. You could leave them at work since they don’t occupy much space. That way you will never forget to take them!

  1. Bobby, great article on fish oil and omega 3’s. I agree with you totally…everyone needs omega 3s and needs to get them either from eating fresh wild-caught or cold-water fish or taking supplements like you’re recommending. On thing I’ve learned, if the fish oil is made from farm-raised ocean fish like salmon, the oil is low in healthy omega 3s and higher in omega 6s, which are not as good for your health. Thanks.

    Reply
    • Yes they do need omega 3s Terry, I couldn’t agree more. It’s amazing that like me back in the day most people don’t have a clue what kind of fish oil they are actually taking.

  2. I have not used fish oil since I was a kid, I can still taste the lingering taste of “cod liver oil” that my mum used to force down my throat for reasons I do not even know and if you ask me, I`m sure she did not know either, I promised myself I`ll never again take any kind of fish oil.
Reading your post has opened my eyes as to why we need fish oils. I`m not sure I will take any but I`m also sure today they are made into capsules so they should be easy to take. In the olden days, the cod liver oil they force drank me was in syrup form.
Really informative, well written and things explained well. Thanks for sharing.

    • That must have been tough drinking the Cod Liver. A tip and something I try is freezing my fish oil capsules. I place the whole bottle in a saleable bag and freeze them. Freezing them slows down the release in your stomach.

  3. I never looked at the labels in the past either Dahlia. When I started really researching and comparing I found the reason most of the ones I was getting were so cheap was because they were really low in the important EPA and DHA. These ones have a significant amount and not too expensive.

  4. Yes Sara you do need to get back on them! I didn’t know how they were made either until a few years ago. I’m glad I did the research because some Fish Oils I took in the past were not good quality looking back at it.
