Dymatize ISO100 Whey Protein Powder Review

I will admit that I don’t have a long history with this Protein Powder but don’t take that as a bad thing. The reason for this is that I have bounced around to many different protein powders over the 20 years I’ve been extremely involved in Fitness and Nutrition. However, I have gone through several tubs of this protein powder. So, for this reason, I think my Dymatize ISO100 Whey Protein Powder Review is worth the read.

It took me a while to finally notice it when I would walk into a supplement store. Now I can’t miss it because it has become very popular.

What first caught my eye was when I read an article on how important Integrity is to them. Dymatize Protein Ethics: 100% of the protein claimed per serving is derived from high-quality, pure, intact, Proteins. THEY DO NOT AMINO SPIKE.  This is extremely important to me, which I have written about in previous articles.

This is so important because a lot of companies Amino spike. What is Amino Spiking?

This is when a company takes low-grade amino acids like L-Glycine or L-Taurine to raise the overall protein content. This means a label could read 25 grams of protein per scoop when only half of that is quality protein if it were to get tested. It would help if you always went with a company like this, so you know what you’re really getting.

NUTRITION FACTS AND INGREDIENTS

One Scoop, which is considered one serving, is what we will go off of. Since there are around 20 different flavor options and a few different size options (1.6,3 and 5LB), things can vary. However, they don’t vary by much and are pretty much the same. So in this example, I will use the flavor I liked the most of the different ones I tried.

That would be Chocolate Peanut Butter which was absolutely delicious.

NUTRITION FACTS

  • 25 grams of Protein
  •   2 grams of Carbohydrates
  •   1 gram of Sugar
  • 0.5 grams of Fat
  • 180 milligrams of Potassium
  • 160 milligrams of Sodium
  •  10 milligrams of Cholesterol

INGREDIENTS

Hydrolyzed Whey Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Partially Defatted Peanut Flour, Cocoa Powder (Processed With Alkali), Natural and Artificial Flavors, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Potassium Chloride, Sucralose.

You will notice if you compare the number of ingredients in total to other supplements that Dymatize has fewer.  To me, this is a great thing! I wouldn’t say I like a lot of ingredients I can barely pronounce or have never heard of.  Most all the ingredients here you may have heard of and if not, then let me explain what they are.

  1. Hydrolyzed Whey Protein Isolate: The fastest and easiest protein for digestion. One step further than Isolate by breaking it down. **If you get an upset stomach easily, then I highly recommend Hydrolyzed Whey.**
  2. Whey Protein Isolate: This type of whey contains 90% protein with less lactose, sugar, and fat. A more purified form of protein than Whey Concentrate but less purified than Hydrolyzed.
  3. Partially Defatted Peanut Flour: This is made by grinding roasted peanuts into a paste and then pressing them to extract the oil.
  4. Cocoa Powder (Processed With Alkali): Cocoa Powder that has been chemically manipulated to reduce acidity.
  5. Soy Lecithin: Added in to delay spoiling and extend shelf life. Lecithin also helps as a blending agent to make it easier for artificial sweeteners and flavorings to mix well.
  6. Potassium Chloride: Also known as potassium salt, is used as a medication to treat and prevent low blood potassium. Typical amounts are known to be completely safe.
  7. Sucralose: A zero-calorie sweetener that contributes sweetness to foods and beverages without adding calories or carbohydrates

WHAT DOES DYMATIZE ISO100 HYDROLYZED WHEY PROTEIN POWER DO

I don’t know about you, but I get a bit of anxiety after a workout if I don’t get protein powders into my system very quickly. Think about all the hard work of getting to the gym and then workout out. You want to maximize all this.

Numerous studies show whey isolate can help build muscle and strength. The most important time for this muscle-building amino acids protein powder to be taken is during the short window right after your workout.

Your muscles are basically saying…FEED ME!

Dymatize iso100 Hydrolyzed whey protein powders do this the best because of how fast it absorbs into your system. If you compare Hydrolyzed whey isolate protein powders to more common and affordable whey concentrates. If you are looking for a quality source of whey protein powder, look for one that has hydrolyzed whey at the top of the ingredient list. This means that the powder has been broken down into its smallest components so that your body can easily digest it and use it to build muscle.

The advantage hydrolyzed whey isolate protein powder has is it allows amino acids to be absorbed at a much faster rate. This will result in more nutrients being delivered to your muscles.

Simple terms…whey protein isolate builds muscle faster!

Whey protein powder is available in three forms: whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, and hydrolyzed whey. Whey isolate is the purest form of whey protein and contains the fewest grams of carbs and fat. Whey protein concentrate is less pure than whey isolate, but it contains more beneficial nutrients, such as carbs and fat. Hydrolyzed whey is the most easily digested form of whey protein, and it delivers muscle-friendly protein to your body in the fastest way for a speedier recovery.

DYMATIZE ISO100 WHEY PROTEIN POWDER FLAVORS

There are a ton of different flavors of Dymatize ISO100. Some of the most popular ones include Dunkin Cappuccino, Dunkin Mocha Latte, fruity pebbles, cocoa pebbles, cookies and cream, gourmet vanilla, Chocolate Peanut butter and gourmet chocolate.

Personally, I love the Dunkin Cappuccino flavor. It’s super creamy and tastes just like a real cappuccino. The fruity pebbles flavor is also really good – it’s sweet and refreshing. Then again, you can’t go wrong with cocoa pebbles.

If you’re looking for a delicious and healthy protein supplement, I definitely recommend giving Dymatize ISO100 whey protein powder a try!

No matter what your flavor preference is, there is likely a dymatize iso100  flavor that will satisfy your taste buds. If you’re looking for something sweet and decadent, try the cookies and cream or birthday cake flavors.

If you’re looking for something more subtle and classic, try the gourmet vanilla or chocolate Peanut Butter flavor. And if you want something with a bit of a caffeine kick, the Dunkin Cappuccino or Mocha Latte flavors are perfect for you.

HOW MUCH WHEY ISOLATE PROTEIN POWDER SHOULD YOU TAKE

This depends on what your goal is and your workout intensity and activity. Are you looking to build muscle, or are you trying to lose weight?

The minimum recommended amount is almost .4 grams per pound of body weight. To be honest, that really isn’t much. The word on the street in the fitness world has always been around 1 gram per pound of body weight.

I like to recommend this amount, but personally, I have been around 1.5 grams of protein powder per pound of body weight. My main goal is gaining muscle size and therefore why I take a higher amount.

Some people think that more is always better, and that is not the case. This can actually have negative side effects in your digestive system.

WHAT IS BETTER WHEY PROTEIN OR WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE

First off, I can say that one is definitely better for your bank account. Although when it comes to my health, I always think it’s worth the extra money.

Whey protein powder is a popular supplement among athletes and bodybuilders because it is a source of high-quality protein that helps the body build muscle. Whey protein is a by-product of milk that is separated from the curds during the cheese-making process. The liquid whey is then dried and turned into a powder.

Whey protein is usually a concentrated form and the most commonly purchased. Whey isolate protein powder is generally more expensive in stores and online.

Whey isolate protein powder is a better choice for someone who is lactose intolerant. Whey isolate protein powder is filtered much more than concentrate and hardly any lactose at all.

The biggest difference between the two is protein content.

  • Whey isolate protein powder: 90% Protein powder by weight.
  • Whey Concentrate: 25-80% Protein powder by weight.

I personally felt much better taking dymatize iso100 hydrolyzed protein powder.

THE PRICE

With dymatize iso100, you have three different options to choose from when it comes to price.  Dymatize iso100 has the 1.6-pound option, the 3-pound option, and the 5-pound option. At the time of writing this, you can get the 1.6-pound option for $32.99.

Yes, I know…..expensive!

This is the purest and fastest absorbing protein on the market, so in general, this is pretty common for a smaller option. Hopefully, this clears up why some whey powders are cheaper. The cheaper ones are usually Whey Concentrate.   The 3-pound option is $51.99, and finally, the 5-pound option is $74.99.

  1.  1.6LB = $20.62 per pound & 5.73 cents per gram of protein
  2.  3.0LB = $17.33 per pound & 4.83 cents per gram of protein.
  3.  5.0LB = $14.99 per pound & 4.22 cents per gram of protein.

So now you are probably wondering the most important question of all. Is this really worth the price?   You may also be wondering if you can get the same quality for a lower price somewhere else.   I will compare Dymatize iso100 to some of the biggest competitors to give you a much better idea.

DYMATIZE COMPETITORS

  • OPTIMUM NUTRITION

GOLD STANDARD ISOLATE WITH HYDROLYZED: 2.91lb = $18.20 per pound & 4.81 cents per gram of protein.

  • SASCHA FITNESS

HYDROLYZED  PROTEIN ISOLATE: 2lb = $19.99 per pound & 5.51 cents per gram of protein.

  • PROGENEX

HYDROLYZED PROTEIN: 2.42lb = $28.90 per pound & 9.02 cents per gram of protein.

.

There are not a ton of supplement companies that make Whey Hydrolyzed Protein Powder. Usually, it’s the cheaper and lower quality Whey Concentrate. So as you can see, unlike some of the more popular competitors, Dymatize is just about the same or cheaper in the 5LB size.

TASTE AND MIXABILITY

I mixed Dymatize with both water and unsweetened Almond milk. I was thrilled with how they mixed and how everything dissolved extremely easily and left no clumps.  You will have no problem mixing it if you do not own a blender. Even when I just stirred it in a cup with a fork, everything dissolved.

The taste was more on the sweet side for me, which I like. Although you don’t have much of a sweet tooth, you may not love it, but I’m sure you will still enjoy it. The sweet taste isn’t overbearing. I’m a big fan when I come across something that tastes sweet and is also healthy because this is pretty rare. This is one reason I’m going to check out the new FRUITY PEBBLES flavor they just came out with.

I would also like to point out that recently they came up with a NATURAL Dutch Chocolate and a NATURAL Vanilla.  The difference here is they sweetened the protein with STEVIA.  Stevia is a ZERO calorie and natural sugar substitute.  The natural also has NO artificial colors or sweeteners.

FRUITY PEBBLES PROTEIN POWDER

I have finally had the chance to try this protein powder.  Before I give you my honest review, I would like to break down what is in Fruity Pebbles Protein Powder.   For me, regardless if I thought it tasted amazing or not.  The real deciding factor is the ingredients and nutrition factors.

NUTRITION FACTS

  • Total Fat: 0g
  • Cholesterol: 10mg
  • Sodium: 100mg
  • Total Carbs: 1g
  • Sugars:  .5g

I made my first protein shake with just water and was very impressed. This protein shake brought back memories of me as a kid eating the Fruity Pebbles cereal. I’m sitting here, and my post pebbles protein shake feeling is great.  I personally would recommend this protein powder.  You basically have no sugar or cholesterol in this powder, and along with being 96% Protein….wow!

.

Dymatize Protein Powder Review
Fast-dissolving high-quality protein powder.

IS IT OK TO DRINK PROTEIN POWDERS EVERY DAY

Yes, protein shakes are safe to drink every day; however, it’s important to obtain the majority of your protein and other nutrients from whole food sources.

Whey powders are a great way to get quality protein into your diet. They are especially beneficial if you are trying to build muscle or lose weight. Here are the top 5 benefits of whey powders:

1. They Can Help You Lose Weight or Maintain a Healthy Weight

Protein shakes can be a great way to help you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, as they are low in calories but high in protein. This can help you feel full and satisfied after drinking them, which can help you avoid snacking later on.

2. They Can Help You Build Muscle

Whey protein is a high-quality source of protein, which is essential for building muscle. Drinking protein shakes can help you achieve your fitness goals and improve your body composition.

3. They Can Help You Recover from Exercise

Protein shakes can also help you recover from exercise, as they contain essential nutrients that your body needs after a workout. This can help you feel stronger and more energized after working out and may help you reduce the risk of injuries.

4. They Are Low in Carbs and Sugars

Whey protein is low in carbs and sugars, making them a good choice for people who are looking to cut down on their sugar intake. This can be helpful for people who are trying to lose weight or manage their blood sugar levels.

5. They Taste Delicious

Finally, one of the best things about whey protein is that they taste delicious! This makes them a great choice for people who want a quick and easy way to get their daily dose of protein.

FINAL WORD

I highly recommend Dymatize Iso 100 Protein Powder. If budget really isn’t a problem, then I would say this is the protein for you if you are looking to spend a little less and still have a good quality protein. Then I would recommend you check out my Optimum Nutrition Whey Concentrate review Whey Protein. More affordable but still a perfect quality protein.

This Protein powder really doesn’t have many negatives other than most of the choices have artificial sweeteners added. You can go with the two options that don’t have any and are all-natural. You are also getting branched chain amino acids included.

As you can see by the comparisons earlier of other big-name Whey Hydrolyzed proteins, Dymatize is actually very competitively priced and lower than some. It really makes it worth it when you buy the 5lb size because that could last you almost two months. Then you would only be spending about $35 a month for the highest quality Protein on the market.

Please don’t buy this protein and think it’s going to be life-changing. In the end, it still comes down to a bunch of other factors like diet, sleep, workout routine, etc.
